Mexico's tourism industry is preparing for a new boost based on strategic cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) and Concanaco Servytur. During the institutional meetings of the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services, and Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora presented the 2026 tourism strategy. This strategy seeks to strengthen territorial coordination and consolidate Mexico as one of the most competitive destinations in the world.

Accompanied by the Confederation's president, Octavio de la Torre Stéfano, the federal secretary highlighted that more than five million companies form part of the national tourism ecosystem, ranging from micro and small economic units to large chains. With this in mind, she emphasized that the sector's growth depends on close collaboration with commerce, services, and local economies.

"All of us here make our living from tourism; we must invite people to visit our country," he said, pointing out the cultural, gastronomic, and natural diversity of the country's 32 states.

The strategy proposes that 2026 will be a decisive year for national tourism, driven by major international events. However, it will also be driven by projects that seek to expand the promotion of the country and strengthen the economic impact on communities.

Octavio de la Torre, president of Concanaco Servytur, reiterated to the head of Sectur his willingness to work in coordination with the federal government. All with the aim of promoting destinations from the local level and generating opportunities for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.

Among the priority initiatives is the consolidation of "La Gran Escapada, el Buen Fin del Turismo" (The Great Getaway , the Good End of Tourism). This is a campaign that encourages domestic travel and boosts tourism consumption. There are also plans to hold the International Sports Tourism Congress in Mexico, in coordination with the Mexico City Tourism Promotion Fund, with the aim of attracting global events and increasing hotel occupancy.

The joint agenda also includes projects such as the International Forum "From the Neighborhood to the World 2026, " focused on strengthening the promotional capabilities of host communities and local businesses, as well as the strategy "A Very Mexican World Cup," designed to capitalize on major sporting events and project the country's cultural identity to the world. The Tianguis Turístico will continue to be a central hub for international networking and strengthening alliances with global organizations in the sector.

During the meeting between Sectur and Concanaco Servytur, authorities and business leaders agreed that unity within the sector will be crucial to consolidating growth in tourism.
